Brad Maryman
Mr. Maryman is an experienced computer forensics consultant. Prior to founding Maryman in 2001, he served as a Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for over 29 years. During that time, Mr. Maryman conducted and supervised investigations, served as an Information Systems Administrator, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Security Programs Manager.
Mr. Maryman has conducted forensic data acquisition, retrieval and analysis on an extensive variety of digital evidence ranging from electronic business records and communications to network logs and encrypted files. Mr. Maryman also has a wide-range of electronic discovery experience in recovering and processing electronic records produced by a broad variety of computer operating systems and applications. He has testified extensively in criminal and civil matters and provided depositions and declarations in support of civil litigation efforts.
In 1991 he founded the FBI’s first Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) and served as its team leader. He established the agency’s first and much copied state of the art computer forensics laboratory. He introduced modifications to evidence procedures for adaptation to digital evidence collection and maintenance requirements. He provided specifications to industry manufacturers and programmers for the development of forensic specific equipment and programs. He devised a rigorous training regimen including legal knowledge and testimony skills as well as technical proficiency enhancement. He pioneered and helped to foster government certification standards for computer examiners.
Mr. Maryman has served as Chairman and Member-at-Large of the advisory board to the Director of the FBI on computer and information systems. He is the developer and author of the FBI’s IT Disaster Recovery policy and protocols. He initiated and acted as project manager for such major projects as desktop software migrations and enterprise architecture transitions.
Drawing on his years of training and experience with U.S. Government Inspections processes, he has entered into consulting agreements with corporations and public agencies to perform inspections and special analysis reviews.
He is an FBI Certified Instructor and has taught courses in Computer Forensics, Security, Crisis Management, Information Systems Administration, and Leadership.
Mr. Maryman serves on the University of Southern California (USC) Information Technology Program Advisory Board and is a frequent guest lecturer at USC on digital forensics.
