CDR Analysis & Cell Tower Mapping
A Call Detail Record (CDR) provides metadata and information about calls made over a phone service. A CDR analysis report will detail where, when, and how calls are made while the phone was being used.
CDRs will typically include a variety of informational data such as:
- The phone numbers on the call (origination and destination phone numbers)
- What type of call was made (such as inbound, outbound, toll-free, conference, emergency services, long distance, and collect calls)
- When the call was made (date and time)
- The duration of the call (usually in minutes and seconds)
Information that will generally not be included in CDRs are calls made via VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) services. VoIP call records are usually found in the call history logs of the VoIP services provider.
Cell tower records provide the information to locate a mobile device at a given time or during certain events (such as when a call, text message, or other data is sent or received). This can be done without having physical access to the pertinent phone.
